What is a Chakra?

 The word chakra (or cakra) is Sanskrit for "wheel" or "disc."Chakras are energy vortices along meridians or energy lines of the human body.They are centers of activity that receives , assimilates and expresses life force energy . They are responsible for the person's physical,mental and spiritual functions. 

A human essentially , keeps drawing energy for self survival and growth from two prime sources.

1) Spiritual universal energy from the cosmos

2) Earth energy from mother earth.

both these energies are continuously absorbed by the human through the chakra network and in turn are supplied through the system and the residual is flushed out through this network.

The chakras are constantly rotating and vibrating  

What blocks a chakra?

childhood traumas , cultural conditioning , limited belief system , bad habits , physical and emotional injuries .or even just lack of attention all these contributes to chakra blockage. 

The Seven Main Chakras

The most commonly discussed system features seven main chakras aligned vertically along the spine, from the base of the tailbone to the crown of the head. Each chakra is associated with specific qualities, a color, an element, and emotional and physical functions.

1. Muladhara (Root Chakra)

Base of the spine/tailbone. at the seat of kundalini 

Red

Central issue: Security, stability, grounding, basic survival needs, feeling safe in the world.

2. Svadhisthana (Sacral Chakra)

Lower abdomen/below the navel

Orange

Central issue: Creativity, sexuality, emotions, pleasure, and adaptability.

3. Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra)

Upper abdomen/navel area

Yellow

Central issue:Personal power, self-esteem, will, confidence, and purpose.

4. Anahata (Heart Chakra)

Center of the chest/heart

Green

Central issue:Love, compassion, empathy, emotional balance, and healing.

5. Vishuddha (Throat Chakra)

Throat/neck area

Blue

Central issue: Communication, self-expression, truth, and finding your voice.

6. Ajna (Third-Eye Chakra)

Between the eyebrows

Indigo

Central issue: Intuition, insight, wisdom, inner vision, and understanding.

7. Sahasrara (Crown Chakra)

Top of the head

Violet or White

 Central issue: Spiritual connection, enlightenment, universal consciousness, and thought.
